The Schools Challenge is the largest young shots' organisation in the U.K., teaching shooting skills for the next generation.

Whether you're new to shooting, looking to compete in your first competition, or a seasoned pro. With many competitions under your belt, you'll find a great atmosphere and a challenge at The Schools Challenge.

From Have-a-Go Sessions or One-to-One instruction to Young Shots Day Courses and Competitions throughout the year, there's something for everyone!

Schools Challenge – Oxford

This is the first major competition of the Schools Challenge year. The idea was born in 2004, with the first event being held in 2005, to encourage schools to add shot gun shooting to school sports. Its success stems from all the extra activities at this event, which include the Browning Rabbit Mania, Stratstone Land Rover 4x4 off roading, Pool Shoot and much more.

It has become increasingly popular over the years with schools entering the competition from all over the country; and what's even better is that you don't have to be in a school team to enter, you can enter as an individual as well!

The day is supported by many different sponsors which make it an exciting day with a great atmosphere and great prizes up for grabs, for individuals and teams.

Schools Challenge – Bredon Festival of Shooting

Our Bredon Festival of Shooting was added to the program in 2008, to encourage youngsters to come and shoot as individuals. Held at the ideally suited Bredon School, Tewkesbury, this shoot has become so big that it's now held over 2 days, and has become known as the Festival Of Shooting.

It is held on the first bank holiday in May, with the Saturday hosting the Schools Challenge Competition and the Sunday holding an open shoot with Schools Challenge Categories.

If you are into your shooting and fancy a weekend doing what you love, this is the perfect weekend for you.

Schools Challenge - University Championship

The University Challenge is the most recent addition each year's competitions, having been established in 2010. It was set up to allow individuals and pupils to go from school/college to university, and still continue to shoot and compete in the programme.

It gives the opportunity for universities to come together and shoot against each other in a light-hearted competition.

Schools Challenge - Winter Series

The TSC Winter series has continued to grow over the last few years. It's held in October and November, and like the other Schools Challenge events, the Winter Series is a 50 Sporting Competition with prizes each day in Senior, Prep and Ladies Categories.

There's also a prize for the overall winner in Prep, Senior & Ladies categories, from all 4 days of the winter series (with a combined score out of 200).

More details are released in the News, so check back regularly for information.

Novice Schools Instruction Days

These instruction days are run during the school holidays for youngsters to improve their shooting under the expert guidance of the Oxford Gun Company instructors. Tailored for groups of six, we assess each individual's level of shooting and work with them throughout the day to hone their skills. A competitive and fun day out.

Each day will be aimed at young shots who are at a competent level but want to improve, but also catering for the novice shot. The day starts at about 9:30am with a brief introduction in the shop - you will then shoot through the morning with a break for refreshments, lunch will be at approximately 1pm with an educational video which will be followed by an afternoon of more challenging targets.

At the end of the day we have a mini competition and the top 2 high scores of the day go through to a final which we hold at the end of the novice instruction day series. The final is a bit of fun and it gives novices the opportunity to win a competition. At the end of the final you will have managed to gain enough confidence in a competitive environment to then go on and shoot bigger competitions throughout the Schools Challenge programme. The day will end at around 4:30pm

Throughout the course we will work on improving your gun mounting, basic technique and different ways to hit those targets that get away!

All welcome, open to ages 12 to 21.

Schools Challenge Game Day

Over the last few years it's become one of the most successful events of The Schools Challenge calendar, it has also become one of the best young shots event in the U.K.

It's a 2 day package, the first day is at our shooting grounds with our professional shooting instructors. They will teach them the etiquette of game shooting as well as how a day’s game shooting works.

The second day is at a prestigious shooting estate. This is a charming shoot set in undulating countryside. We feel it is the perfect example of a professional game shoot. You will have the opportunity to shoot 3 drives, beat 3 drives and pick up 3 drives.

It is our aim to make sure that everyone shoots some birds and enjoys their first game shooting experience and you will be able to take a bace home to eat or show your friends.

It really is a truly memorable day out.
